Three longtime Mc Lean residents who had significant archival collections that also pushed for establishing a “Mc Lean Room” in the library included former Supervisor Lilla Richards, lawyer Henry C.
Mackall, and former The Library Director of Fairfax County Public Library initially affirmed the concept of a Mc Lean Room, but following the 2004 passing of a multi-million dollar bond to renovate the Dolley Madison Library, the Library Board turned down the Mc Lean Room concept citing the Virginia Room as the county’s official archive for such collections.
